
British actor Joseph Quinn is having quite a moment these days. After co-starring in the fourth season of the highly regarded and fan favourite Stranger Things, Quinn’s star has been meteorically rising ever since.
The performer who was once considered in minor roles with miniseries projects like Catherine the Great and Howards End has suddenly become the actor of the year due in large part because of his portrayal as Eddie Munson in the Duffer brothers’ epic series.
For what many believe is Quinn’s breakout role, the end of Eddie Munson may just be the beginning for Joseph Quinn. Now, it appears that fans are flocking to social media to show their appreciation for Quinn’s work and to customize images of the actor as a comic book superhero they would love to see him portray.
According to CBR, the person who is a fan of Marvel Cinematic Universe has proposed that Joseph Quinn play Mister Fantastic and has created a work of fan art to support their argument. The image, which was enlarged by the person’s Instagram page was shared by more than 200k followers of spdrmnkyxxiii’s who received over 6000 likes for an image that could be worth the equivalent of a thousand words. It’s not clear to this point if Quinn has looked at the fan art that is in question.
It could cause interesting debates between MCU fans on who will be the person to carry the honour of being Mister Fantastic in future iterations of the superhero tale. The image is below.
Prior to when Joseph Quinn entered international acclaim as Eddie Munson on Stranger Things The role of Mister Fantastic has been portrayed by a handful of actors hoping to make the most of the appeal of the character.
Mister Fantastic is famously part of the Fantastic Four as well as the role of an alter ego for Reed Richards both in the comics and on screen. In the film version, the character was played by Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd. At the time, he the time was best known for his smaller parts on Titanic in Titanic and Black Hawk Down.
Gruffudd was Mister Fantastic in 2005’s Fantastic Four and the sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer together with Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis. In 2015, the reboot of Fantastic Four saw Miles Teller in the same role as Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara.
In the past, Mister Fantastic was embodied by John Krasinski in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a character which Forbes reports do not expect to be seeing The Office actor repeat.
In the case of Joseph Quinn, his days as Mister Fantastic may never be achieved unless the most recent fan art of him as a the character is able to influence Marvel executives. Based on Entertainment Weekly, a reboot of Fantastic Four is currently in development with a planned launch date in November 2024.
There’s no confirmation yet on who is involved in the film however, the intention is for the superhero epic to be released in Marvel’s Phase 6 rollout, alongside Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Those who love Quinn might still be able to catch their favourite Stranger Things cast member in the role.
