Dwayne Johnson On Keeping Black Adam Out Of ‘Shazam!’

Dwayne Johnson is fighting the same fight as her superhero counterpart, Black Adam. The Rock will join the DC world in the form of a film built around the antihero. It was the actor who took on the challenge of giving his character a unique film about his origins.

“When the initial draft of the film was presented to us it was a mix with Black Adam and Shazam: Two origin stories all in one film,” Johnson told Vanity Fair. “Now this was the plan so it was not totally unexpected. However, when I read this I was able to tell that “We shouldn’t do this film like this.

We’d be doing Black Adam an incredible disservice. It would have been okay for Shazam to have two origin stories that converged in one film however, it’s not a good idea to Black Adam.”

Johnson will then meet with studio executives to share his thoughts on breaking the characters into their own movies, and the possibility of reuniting them in a showdown later on.

“I told myself, ‘I need to write about my experiences here. It’s not popular, because everyone was thinking”Hey this script is awesome Let’s create this movie. I told them”I think you should create Shazam!, make that film in the style you prefer. I believe we should keep this separate. ‘”

In the final result, Johnson won, and both Shazam! Black Adam and Shazam! Black Adam, have its distinct films and will remain within that same DC universe, giving the fans what they want.

Warner Bros. is set to release Black Adam in theatres on the 21st of October, 2022.
